I watched different forums for over 2 year without contributing and without posting anything. I have already spent more than $15,000 on the lawyers who never return my phone call. Then I realized that this forum is giving me more value than my lawyer. Every couple of days I read the posts from Pappu/Admin in the forum. For me that is worth more than $25. I have read different views on different forums for last 2 years. The make-up of people on these forums is such that I don't think reducing or increasing subscription will change anything substantially. If IV want more members then they should remove subscription. Reducing subscription will NOT bring more people to contribute. Increasing subscription will bring more donations.

hi very useful thread, my wife who was working back home cannot work here as she is on h4 (no EAD yet).
We too started cribbing about it, and few months passed, sitting at home just makes one go mad, so decided we wuld go to school and may be try in h1 lottery this year....
So i would suggest not wasting the time for all those h4 ppl and try to make some meaningful use by either going to school or trying to find out who can sponsor a work permit etc...
I am all in for this, and am ready to support this initiative....
But we first need to clearly lay down what is our proposal,
a) Are we talkin about allowing H4 people to work (like how L2 can work)...
b) Are we talkin about providing SSN for h4 people so that they can get stimulus benefit...
With new obama govt i am sure if we collect together and lay our proposal , they may atleast think about it....
Even if not giving work permit, they may atleast help us get some stimulus benefit...

Update:
My lawyers sent a copy of of my 140 receipt and a letter explaining why they should upgrade my 140 petition to premium. Fingers crossed.

will really appreciate some help with this... i have so far heard only instances of people coming back in with no problems with the same visa but a lot of information available online seems to indicate that visa is void and one cannot come back on the same visa.

I just went through the Murthy Dot Com and realized that to whom this motivation aimed at? As Logiclife mentioned, so many people delayed filing 485 to accomplish THE MUST TO DO things.
My comments are, why somebody wants to immigrate to another country? When you see good prospectus in life. So, in the best times of your life (age between 26 to 40) when you have plenty of energy, ideas, to do lot of things, this kind of pushing into UNKNOWN ZONE of waiting forever confuses and wastes the precious time. That is so stressful and not good for the country and individual either.

Well the STEM graduates getting a green light to go in to the US workforce will go through regardless of any increase in the H1B quota. The US Citizen enrollment in STEM programs in the US Universities is perilously low, and no way the US will let these highly qualified group of young people go back and compete against US businesses. I think this measure is easy to pass, since the US will only be catching up with Australia, UK and Canada on this.
Actually according to me IV is trying too much that is hard to acheive.
Increase in H1 to 115k is fine. After that 20% increase every year is too much and there will not be any restriction and that may increase the immigration so much and that may be really threat to current immigrants as well as American citizens. Already lot of companies are applying Blanket L1s. Also exemptions for Stem+3 and MS degree holders will increase immigration so much and tough to get passed. I think just increase of gc to 300k will resolve the problem for next 5 years. Also it is easy to go through Senate and House. But if we keep on trying to lot of provisions that will dealy the process. If we ask exemption for those who are having PHD that is reasonable and that will increase number of scientists and we can justify.

In my case **** sucking gulti (tamil) employer is deducting $300/month for me when in reality I am not covered. They are just sucking it freely. Sigh. I am tired of fighting with them over each & every issue - I strongly believe Karma will take it's course and punish them their dues.
Please don't generalize a problem and scold some one based on race,sex, ethnicity and linguistic basic, this is really a sensitive matter and it may offend someone.

The reason I applied for H1B is lot of people recommend to continue on H1B. Thanks for your advice. Anybody thinks I will have any problem reentering?
