As part of Team IV I took ownership of organizing IV professional networking events and had some time carved out this weekend to put some thoughts together on how to do this. We already have a linkedin group for Immigration Voice and I have become a member of this already. I will be glad to work with you on this.

Mailed the package to Indian embassy in NewYork on: Feb/01/2011
Indian Embassy received it on: Feb/02/2011
I received both new and old passports on Feb/16/2011
It took just two weeks for entire process...

Well, if this get's Bush's autograph on it, we will see significant forward movements (possibly current) in the visa bulletins starting only in October this year (The effective date of enactment for this bill).

Unless I'm missing something, A number is just your alien identification number. It is assigned at a certain time in the process and will stick with you up until you get your citizenship. You'll have that number on your green card and on all other related documents.

I have been trying to find information about this topic also, specially because I have to travel outside of US in about two weeks. My application was sent via private currier on Jun-28th/07 and received by USCIS at TX on Jun-29th/2007 so I'm expecting my "Received date" to be Jun-29th/2007 regardless of the "Notice date". I then should be safe to travel not having my receipt notice yet but using my H1-B current visa without risking my AOS process.. Am I rigth?
I mean.. USCIS cannot just expect everybody changing long planned trips just because they decided to rush the dates and get flooded with applications rigth? ;-)

You are correct. No problem, as long as the Visa stamp is valid you can come back on H1 status.

Good you bought it up. There are number of people who appear to be getting the I 140 RFE's.
BTW, Any one with Future employment got RFE. I got an RFE but still dont what actually has been asked. got to wait and see. How much does it usually take to recieve the RFE mail since it is updated on the website?

I think we would know how the dates would move in December bulletin this year. The labor backlogs would be clear by September and if the "45-day labor life" rule is enacted then whoever is eligible would have to file the I-140/I-485 by October middle or lose the priority date. So, hopefully State department would have a fair idea of how the dates should move by November.
So, bottom-line I am not betting too much on forward dates movement in April bulletin.
OK, Im surprised no one has started this yet ? I know I will get lot of crazy comments and equivalent of e- eggs and tomatoes. But its March 1st buddies and no one started this, so to keep the tradition alive Ill be the sacrificial lamb this time :)

Honestly, I think its impossible to get the CIR pass as it has a lot of stuff in it like legal immigrant backlog, illegal amnsety or rather path to legalization, dream act etc..
I am sure they will push for Dream Act before the next election. Whether or not it passes, at least they can say they tried. I sincerly hope they push for the CIR instead of just the Dream Act or may be have another bill just for Legal Immigrants to eliminate backlog... but the fact of life is there are more illegal (read votes) than legals

Regarding the skills requirement, I was looking at this link (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who-instructions.asp#list) and didn't find 'Software Engineers' in the list.
As regards the other job titles in the NOC list, I thought I'd need an offer for arranged employment to apply in that category.
Please let me know if job titles in the NOC list qualify for the Federal Skilled Worker category without the need for arranged employment.

Here is information to file extension of EAD/AP, nothing special, just a method I have used to file extension EAD+AP for last 3 times.
Hope this is useful. Read the entire pdf form (instructional pages) I-765 and I131 every time just to make sure that nothing has changed from the last time you applied for EAD. Lookout and verify the address/check amount in the instructional pages of the I-765 and I-131 forms as it may change from time to time.

This means you have to get another medical report, photos, etc. Is your lawyer charging you for second filing?
The whole idea of refiling is going to be a big mess for sure : In case if your file is rejected becoz of unfortunate reasons or no receipt generated till sept ending then obviously you can refile with your proof of filing no worries even if dates retrogress saying there was an issue on USCIS side.Applying again wont help in anyways becoz files u send it now will not opened even till October. I dont know which attorneys are calling this for .
To have better clarify please kindly enquire multiple times before starting yourself on this. My 2 cents. There is no rule that suggests you need to apply just becoz one didnt get reciepts. I am too very much concerned with refiling but after looking thorugh various issues and talking with my attorneys its clear that refiling is going to invite much of issues which are uncalled for .

My lawyer filed I-140 for me and receipt date is Janunuary 30, 2006. It is approved Last week from NSC. Don't worry about your I-140, if you apply for EB-3 immigration visa. My lawyer told me things are going to be worse now. We have to very patient to wait for when the I-485 will be available.

two years is the generally accepted threshold for WOM. Also, the US attorney's office handles immigration cases, not the DA's office.
If your visa numbers arent current, the US attorney will usually move to dismiss however it really depends on the relief you ask for.
